Hello – and welcome to my website.
I’m Jane Jackson and I write historical romances set in Cornwall during the period between the Napoleonic Wars and the Edwardian era. Containing elements of adventure and intrigue, they explore Cornish life at every level of society and are emotionally-gripping stories of courage, ambition, tragedy, and the redeeming power of love.
Earlier in my career I wrote fourteen medical and contemporary romances for Harlequin set in exotic places. But my love of history and of my home county of Cornwall beckoned. I happily followed and haven’t looked back.
I hope you enjoy browsing, and leave feeling inspired to read some of the books it has given me so much pleasure to write.
Great news! Two weeks ago I signed a contract with Random House to re-issue one of my historical romances The Consul’s Daughter as an ebook. This is my first ebook and I hope the story will be enjoyed by a new generation of readers. Then last week I heard that AudioGo is to set up its own e-publishing company and is considering five of my contemporary romances originally published by Harlequin then re-released in large print. Watch this space!

A frosty morning
I took this picture two days ago. It was our first hard frost of the winter. Yesterday, while the rest of the country admired the beauty or coped with the inconvenience of heavy snow, Cornwall had torrential rain. It melted the ice in the waterbutts, and today the rivers and reservoirs will be filling. There’s a saying that there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes; a philosophy unlikely to impress people coping with icy roads, ruts of frozen slush and burst pipes.
