Hello – and welcome to my website.
I’m Jane Jackson and I write historical romances set in Cornwall during the period between the Napoleonic Wars and the Edwardian era. Containing elements of adventure and intrigue, they explore Cornish life at every level of society and are emotionally-gripping stories of courage, ambition, tragedy, and the redeeming power of love.
Earlier in my career I wrote fourteen medical and contemporary romances for Harlequin set in exotic places. But my love of history and of my home county of Cornwall beckoned. I happily followed and haven’t looked back.
I hope you enjoy browsing, and leave feeling inspired to read some of the books it has given me so much pleasure to write.
Some More Good news! This week the large print rights for Taken To Heart, published in October 2011, have been sold to Magna. It is to be issued as an audiobook by Isis later this year and as e-book from Faber Factory in September 2012.
I have also signed a contract with Constable Robinson for release in various e-formats of The Enemy Within, published in an anthology of naval short stories in 1999.

Christmas cactus

Apple blossom
These two photographs taken on the same day last week perfectly illustrate our strange spring weather this year: a Christmas cactus and apple blossom both flowering in May. Yesterday we had glorious sunshine, blue skies and crystal clear air. Today there’s a thick blanket of cloud and a promise of rain by mid-morning. But it will pass, the sun will return, the days are longer, the swallows are back and the sepia tones of winter have been replaced by vivid colour. We’re already picking new potatoes on our allotment. Spring is my favourite season, it’s so full of promise.
