Hi Christine,
I'm so glad you are enjoying my blog posts. My current book has had to go on hold at the moment but I hope to resume work on it soon.
I hope you are having a wonderful time researching and writing about Dartmoor - a wonderfully atmospheric location with masses of history to explore.
Enjoy!
May the muse be with you.
Love,
Jane

Hi Pat,
I hope the film is a huge success. You will find the process fascinating so there'll be no time to be nervous!
The reminiscing works really well as Dad remembers the distant past with far greater clarity than more recent events. When I left him after lunch today I asked if he wanted the TV on. he declined. He said he was thinking about events during the war years and meeting Mum, and these were far more interesting than anything on the box!

Hi Jane

Love the tale. Dad, at 91, isn't yet at the point of needing personal care, but I'll certainly remember the reminiscing tip.
Gareth and I are soon to be involved in filming for an episode of Tam ha Tam - a Cornish language teaching series on-line. Not my thing, really, but I'll take courage from your father's amazing bravery in standing up in public in a tutu.

We've never had a fox visit before, so I wasn't prepared. I'd love to get shots of the two woodpeckers that frequently swing on the fat square I've hung up. But though they are coming regularl, they are still very shy. So I'll forget photos and simply enjoy them.

I love the pictures of your visitor. Shame you didn't have your camera handy when the fox strolled through your garden. We get the odd one - beautiful creatures - but our neighbour (who keeps chickens) wouldn't agree.

Hi David
Do you know now what makes aggressive water flow differently? Does it cling to the pipes? See, this is the trouble.
I always want to know the whyand find myself continuing to read and research far more deeply than the story requires.
It's really difficult sometimes to call a halt and stop digging. I have a postcard pinned on the wall in front of my desk. On it are printed the words:
"Story is everything." A timely reminder!

Very interesting! I first came across 'aggressive water' 35 years ago when I was working at a brewery in Glasgow. Water would not flow in the predicted volume to the more remote brewery extremities. It turned out we were dealing with aggressive water and I found that its flow characteristics are different to non-aggressive water.I didn't know why, but my solution was to use larger pipes. Rest assured that this effect would be too small to affect boilers in ships. David

Many thanks, David. I really enjoy research - you might have guessed! I get a huge thrill out of learning new things and uncovering little known facts. I always find more than I can use and had to learn to be selective.
